My 2012 Silverado with a 5.3L AFM engine has been misfiring. I believe that one of the AFM valves are not working correctly because the issue only happen after the engine has been running for more than 5 minute and the missfire an the truck is idle. The truck also has a oil leak and this model has a known issue to cause the valves to fail
I'm fairly mechanical and feel comfortable replacing the heads along with the oil pump. But pulling the engine is beyond my capabilities at home. I still need to determine where the oil leak is. Sliding under the truck I see oil all over the sway bar, but I'm unable to see where the oil seeping from.
If you're in my shoes, what other components would you replace while replacing the heads and oil pump? Any tips on locating an oil leak?
